Privacy
Last updated 18 October 2026
The short version: there are no accounts, nothing to sign up for, no tracking cookies and no third-party trackers. We keep as little as we can.
What stays on your device
Player names, your name for online rooms, your sound setting, pack choices, wheel preferences, your own dares (My dares), best scores and the last online room you were in (so the Play online page can offer you the way back) are saved in your browser's local storage so they're there next time. While you play, the game in progress and the dares that have come up are also kept in that browser tab, so a reload doesn't lose your place and the next dares are fresh; they're forgotten when you close the tab. None of this is sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
What reaches our server
- Server logs. Like every website, our web server records each request: your IP address, the time, the page and your browser type. We use these only to keep the site secure and working. They are deleted after 7 days.
- Messages you send us. When you use the contact form we keep what you wrote, the page you mention, your email address if you give one, and a coded form of your IP address (so we can stop abuse of the form), for 90 days. Then they are deleted. Each message, with the email address if you gave one, is also passed to us through Telegram so we see it quickly. We use your email address only to reply to you.
- Game counters. When you spin, roll or draw a card, your browser sends an anonymous count, for example "a wheel was spun, Party Classics pack". It carries no identifier, and we don't store your IP address with it. We keep only daily totals.
Online rooms
- While a room is open, the names, chat, scores and the room's list of dares for the loser (with who added each) are held in our server's memory, and shown to everyone in the room. They are gone when the room closes (after 30 quiet minutes, at most 3 hours).
- When we update the site, open rooms are saved to our server's disk for the few seconds of the restart so games can carry on: names, scores, the game in progress, the room's dare list and the coded IP addresses used to keep removed people out, but never the chat. The copy is deleted as soon as the rooms are back.
- Would You Rather and Never Have I Ever: your answers are used only to make the count everyone sees, and a count is only shown when at least three people answered. No one else's phone is ever sent your answers, they're never saved (not even while we update the site), and they're wiped as soon as they're counted.
- Your seat: your phone keeps a random seat id and key for each room you join, so you can get back in after a refresh. It is stored in your browser and identifies nothing about you.
- Reports: when someone reports, we keep that room's last 50 chat messages, the names in the room and a coded form of each person's IP address, for 30 days. The coding uses a secret key kept on our server, so only we could link it back to an address. We use these only to review the report and to keep out people who broke the rules. Then they are deleted.
- Blocks: if we block someone from online rooms, we keep that coded IP address on a block list until the block ends.
- Counts: we count rooms created, people joining (and whether they came by an invite link or a typed code), invite links opened, invite links that no longer worked, games started, how they ended, rematches and reports, as daily totals with nothing about who. Your phone also remembers whether it has joined someone else's room; when you start a room of your own it says so — a yes or no, nothing else — so we can count how many new rooms come from people who were invited.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share personal information, build profiles, or use advertising or analytics trackers. The site loads nothing from other companies' servers.
Advertising
There are no ads today. If we add them, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it, and update this page before they appear.
Where your data is
Our server is hosted in Germany. Contact-form messages also pass through Telegram on their way to us.
Children
Darecade is not intended for anyone under 18.
Person in charge of personal information
Under Quebec's privacy law, the person in charge of protecting personal information for Darecade is the site's Privacy Officer, reachable at hello@darecade.com or through the contact form. Write to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Because we keep almost nothing that identifies you, there will usually be nothing to find. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
